Forth Worth (TX) Police Officer Remains Critical After Being Shot 7 Times

A Fort Worth police officer shot 7 times on Tuesday remains in critical condition.

Officer Matt Pearce was part of a team attempting to apprehend Ed Russell McIver Sr., 42, on multiple outstanding warrants when an exchange of gunfire ensued.

McIver, Sr. was killed in the shootout and his son, Ed Russell McIver, Jr. was apprehended after a lengthy manhunt.

Officer Pearce was struck in the chest, face, arms and legs, and suffered a bruised heart.

"Doctors believe that it is a good sign that he made it through the night, and every hour that passes is in his favor," authorities said.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Officer Pearce and has already raised nearly $40,000 of it's $50,000 goal.

Officer Pearce is married with two young children.
