Two NYPD officers are recovering altering being shot in a Bronx housing complex yesterday, the NYPD stated.
Three officers were on foot patrol in a housing complex when they contacted two men standing in a stairwell. One of the men fired upon the officers and fled on foot.
The officers struck by gunfire were a male and female with approximately two years on the force. The male officer was shot in the face and the female officers shot in the stomach.
Both officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment and are in stable condition.
The alleged shooter fled to a nearby apartment where he was subsequently found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Three additional suspects are in custody.
