A rookie off-duty NYPD officer was struck by a passing motorist and killed early Sunday morning, authorities revealed.
Officer Vincent Harrison, 25, was driving on the New Jersey Turnpike when he was involved in a minor collision with another vehicle during a lane change. As Harrison exited his vehicle, a passing 2008 Infiniti sped by the stalled vehicles and struck the young officer before fleeing the area.
Harrison died at the scene.
Officer Harrison had been with the 100th precinct in Queens since he graduated from the academy in 2014.
State police revealed that they had identified and located the driver of the Infiniti that struck Officer Harrison but they have not yet released the person's identity or charges that they might face.
