Two Baton Rouge Officers Shot Early Saturday Morning Likely to Survive

Two Baton Rouge police officers are in stable condition after being shot by a suspect early Saturday morning.

The officers had responded to a call of an individual damaging property at around 5:30 a.m. After they arrived on scene, they noticed the suspect fleeing in a vehicle and a 2-mile vehicle chase ensued.

When the suspect bailed on foot he produced a rifle and shot at the officers, striking both. The officers returned fire and the suspect was hit.

Both officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie Jr. said that the officers’ injuries were likely non-life threatening.

The suspect was also transported to a hospital for treatment but his condition was unknown.
