A Fargo (ND) police officer has been shot by a barricaded suspect and is not expected to survive his injuries, the Fargo Police Department stated.

Officer Jason Moszer, 33, responded to a domestic violence call with a barricaded suspect on Wednesday evening. After parking his patrol car by a nearby home, Officer Moszer was shot by the suspect.

SWAT officers responded to the scene and transported the fallen officer to a nearby hospital for treatment. His injuries have been described as “non-survivable” and his family is with him saying their goodbyes.

The suspect was ultimately located within his house, dead from a gunshot wound. It was not yet clear if the gunshot wound was self-inflicted or a result of police gunfire.

“Tonight, we're losing a brother, one of our fellow officers,” said Fargo Police Chief David Todd.

The Fargo police department has not lost an officer in the line of duty for over a century.
