Christmas in Chicago: 11 Killed, 50 Wounded in Holiday Weekend Shootings

A violent Christmas weekend capped what has been an exceedingly violent year in the city of Chicago.

In total, 61 people were shot and 11 of them killed over the holiday weekend.

The violence brought the homicide total to over 780 so far in 2016, according to a local website that monitors violence in Chicago.

2016 has seen a dramatic rise in the number of people killed in the Second City, jumping to nearly 800 murders, well over the 2015 total of 492.
