In a move sure to draw ire from the law enforcement community, President Obama has appointed attorney Debo Adegbile to a 6-year term on the Civil Rights Commission.

Adegbile gained notoriety for his defense of unrepentant cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal.

In 2014, Obama had nominated Adegbile to lead the DOJ's office on civil rights; however, his nomination - which required Senate approval - was shot down over widespread opposition to the appointment.
