Sunday proved a particularly dangerous day for police officers throughout the nation as officers in Texas, Missouri, and Florida were victims of ambush attacks.
San Antonio police officer Benjamin Marconi was shot and killed as he sat in his car writing a ticket. The assailant in that incident fled and a manhunt is currently underway to capture him.
Hours later, a police officer in St. Louis was shot in the face after a vehicle pulled up alongside his and opened fire. That assailant was later killed in a shootout with police. The St. Louis officer was said to be conscious and communicating at the hospital in critical but stable condition.
The incident in Florida occurred on Sanibel Island, along the state's Gulf Coast. A police officer was injured after a suspect opened fire during a traffic stop. That suspect was taken into custody later in the evening.
