A bystander with a concealed-carry permit shot and killed a suspect who was seen beating a Florida deputy on I-75 Monday morning.
The incident began after the suspect drove past Lee County Sheriff's Deputy Dean Bardes at a high rate of speed. A chase ensued and at one point the suspect exited his vehicle and began to fight with the deputy.
That's when a Good Samaritan, seeing what was occurring, confronted the suspect - who was allegedly armed - and ordered him to stop fighting the deputy.
When the suspect failed to comply, the passerby shot and killed him, ending the assault.
The injured deputy was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
