A 27-year old parolee with an extensive criminal history has been charged in the "execution" style killing of a veteran Los Angeles Sheriff's Department sergeant earlier this week.
Trenton Trevon Lovell was charged with capital murder and could face the death penalty if convicted.
Lovell has an extensive criminal history with nearly a dozen prior arrests and two stints in state prison.
Lovell is accused of shooting LASD Sergeant Steve Owen, 53, after Owen responded to a burglary call.
After shooting Sergeant Owen the first time, Lovell allegedly stood over the fallen officer and shot him four additional times, execution style.
After killing Sergeant Owen, Lovell would attempt to steal his patrol car and ram another police officer before being shot himself and taken into custody.
