Police officers in Ohio helped escort three young women to their homecoming dance after the girls lost her police officer father in the line of duty earlier this year.

Danville Police Officer Thomas Cottrell was shot and killed in an ambush shooting on January 17, 2016.

Officer Cottrell's daughters Courtney, Brooklyn and Alycia and their dates were each escorted to their homecoming dance by officers.

The girls' mother, Anna Montgomery, said of the officers' gesture, "They kept just saying 'It's our honor, it's our honor,'"

She added, "The brothers in blue definitely came through for the girls."
