Off-Duty Louisville Detective Struck and Killed by Alleged DUI Driver

An off-duty Louisville, KY detective, in Lexington for a Fraternal Order of Police conference, was struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver after he stopped to ask a passerby for directions to a restaurant. The bystander was also killed.

The two men were apparently talking when they were hit by the vehicle. Detective Jason Schweitzer, 37, and Timothy Moore, 56, died of blunt force trauma.

Suzanne M. Whitlow, 26, was taken into custody and is facing charges of second-degree manslaughter and DUI.

Detective Schweitzer was a 15 year veteran officer in Jefferson County as well as a father and husband.
