SFPD Officer Conscious But in Critical Condition After Shooting

A San Francisco police officer, shot in the head after confronting a suspect on Friday evening, is in critical condition this morning; however, he has been described as being conscious.

The incident unfolded after officers repsonded to a disturbance call in the city's Sunset District neighborhood.

Upon contacting the suspect, the officers were immediately fired upon by the individual. One officer was struck in the head.

The suspect fled on foot but was subsequently shot and wounded before being taken into custody.

Neither the injured officer nor the suspect have yet to be publicly identified.
