A 25-year old NYPD officer is in stable condition after being shot in the leg while responding to a large party in the Bronx on Saturday morning.
Officer Sherrod Stuart had responded to the scene of the party, which had devolved into a massive street fight, when gunfire erupted.
Stuart was struck in the ankle but returned fire, hitting the suspect four times.
Five other individuals were stabbed and injured in the brawl.
The suspect, 19-year old Christopher Rice, was apprehended and taken into custody. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital and listed in serious condition with injuries to his neck, thigh, stomach, and hand.
It was reported that Rice had just been released from jail only hours before shooting Officer Stuart.
Officer Stuart was being treated at a local hospital and was listed in stable condition. The shooting occurred on Officer Stuart’s four year anniversary of joining the NYPD.
