Tragic week for law enforcement sees 6 officers fall in the line of duty

In a particularly tragic week for law enforcement across the nation, 6 officers were killed or died in the line of duty between September 16-22.

The latest officer to die in the line of duty, Deputy Bill Myers (Okaloosa County Sheriff's Department), was shot and killed by an individual after serving him with a domestic violence injunction.

Two of the fallen officers were from Georgia and one each from New York, Vermont, Florida, and Virginia, respectively.

In addition to Deputy Myers, three officers died in automobile accidents while two died from duty-related illnesses.
