In October, Breianna Smart was accused of striking an Auburn Hills, MI police officer with her vehicle door and slamming him into his patrol car as she tried to flee from the officer.

The incident was caught on the officer’s dash-cam video.

The officer, Martin Mikolajczak, had been trying to give Smart a ticket for driving on a suspended license. He has since recovered from his injuries and returned to work.

On Friday, Smart apologized as she pled no contest to charges of assaulting a police officer, fleeing, and eluding, among others.

Apologies aside, Smart was not spared incarceration as she was sentenced to one-year in jail by Judge Hala Jarbou, who said that Smart, “showed complete disrespect for law enforcement.”
