Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump sent a strong message about the type of punishment anyone willing to take the life of a police officer should expect to experience under his presidency: the death penalty.
“One of the first things I’d do in terms of executive order, if I win, will be to sign a strong, strong statement that would go out to the country, out to the world, anybody killing a police man, a police woman, a police officer, anybody killing a police officer, the death penalty is going to happen,” Trump stated.
Trump further expressed his support for the men and women of law enforcement, telling them that the work they do is “second to none.”
“I want to let you know, the police and law enforcement in this country, I will never ever let them down,” Trump said.
Mr. Trump made his remarks while speaking to the New England Police Benevolent Association, which, incidentally, endorsed his candidacy.
