Montgomery County police officer Noah Leotta has passed away from injuries sustained during a vehicle stop the week earlier. Funeral arrangements were scheduled for Tuesday, December 15 at 11:00 a.m. in Gaithersburg, MD.

Officer Leotta had been working a special assignment at a DUI checkpoint when he was struck by a passing motorist.

Leotta sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he remained until passing away on Thursday morning.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Officer Leotta, Luis Gustavo Reluzco, pulled over at the scene and was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Reluzco, 47, had two previous arrests for driving under the influence, in 1988 and 1990, respectively.
