An escaped inmate charged in the June death of a Georgia deputy has been located and arrested.
Jim Edward Lowery, 35, was found a short distance from the Laurens County Jail, the facility from which he escaped on Tuesday.
Lowery apparently freed himself from leg shackles and broke the window out of a patrol vehicle while he was being transported earlier in the day. Officers pursued Lowery into a nearby wooded area before losing him.
A police manhunt ensued and Lowery was recaptured later in the day.
Lowery had been incarcerated for the June death of Georgia Deputy Ladson O'Connor (Montgomery County). Lowery led police on a high-speed chase in which O'Connor crashed his patrol vehicle and died of his injuries.
