A St. Clair Township (PA) police officer was shot and killed on Saturday night after responding to a domestic disturbance call. His alleged killer, Ray Shetler Jr., 31, was apprehended without incident hours later.

Officer Lloyd Reed, a five year member of the department and twenty-five year veteran police officer, was shot as he arrived at the location of the domestic incident. Although shot and injured, Officer Reed managed to return fire and wound the suspect.

Shetler Jr. fled the scene but was apprehended six hours later by Pennsylvania State Police.

Officer Reed was transported to a local hospital but died in the emergency room. Officer Reed is the third officer to be killed in the line of duty in the past twelve months in the rural region surrounding Pittsburgh.
