Undercover Arlington (TX) Officer Shot, Injured, in Confrontation with Subject

An undercover Arlington (TX) police officer was shot and injured on Thursday morning while working with a federal drug trafficking task force.

The officer was in the process of placing a tracker on a vehicle when he was confronted by an individual who questioned what he was doing.

When the officer told the individual that he had simply dropped something, the suspect opened fire on the officer with an assault rifle.

As the officer retreated in a black, Ford F-150, the suspect continued to fire at him. Crime scene officers later found 16 bullet holes on the vehicle.

The officer was struck in the arm, hand, and leg. He was transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.

Two individuals from the residence where the shooting occurred were subsequently arrested but their relation to the shooting was unclear.
