Border Patrol Officer Shoots Armed Individual Crossing Border Near El Centro, CA


An officer with the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol fatally shot an armed individual who was attempting to illegally enter the United States on Wednesday. 

The individual, identified as a 35-year old male, was allegedly attempting to cross into the United States near the Calexico entry point, south of El Centro, California.

A CBP spokesperson stated that when the, "subject approached the primary booth on his bike, the officer stopped the bike’s forward movement by reaching out and securing the subject’s left forearm."

The individual then got off of his bike and advanced toward the officer while holding an 8-inch knife. The CBP officer fired his weapon four times, striking the individual in the chest and neck. 

Although CPR was administered, the individual was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
