Two men have been charged in the shooting of a Chicago police officer on Friday. The assault occurred as the officer was confronting the men following a robbery in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. 

The officer was shot in the leg. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is said to be stable. 

The suspects, Donzell Grant, 20, and Cortez Harrington, 24, were charged with attempted first-degree murder, robbery, and other felonies.

O.J. Simpson Seeking Early Release From Prison

O.J. Simpson will ask the Nevada Board of Parole to grant him early release this morning after having spent 9 years in prison for a conviction of robbery and kidnapping. 

Simpson, acquitted of the double-murder of his ex-wife and her friend in 1994, is now 70-years old.

Officer Denied Food at VA McDonald's; Employee Allegedly States, "I Ain't Serving No Police"

A uniformed officer with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries was denied his food by an employee at a Richmond, VA-area McDonald's recently.

The employee allegedly told the officer that, "I ain't serving no police."

The event apparently occurred after Officer Scott Naff had already paid for him meal through the drive-thru. When he reached the window to retrieve his meal he was denied service.

The incident became publicly known after the officer's wife shared the story on social media.

Freda Thornton, the franchise manager, stated, “We regret this situation as it goes against our standards of providing a welcoming experience to everyone, and we have taken the appropriate action to resolve this situation."

Teen Who Taunted NYPD During Police Funeral Gets Evicted

The NY Post reported that a Bronx teen who apparently blared a vulgar song from his apartment during the NYPD funeral services for Officer Miosotis Familia has been evicted.

The teen was reported to have been playing the song "F--- tha Police" high above the funeral procession. Officers' attempts to have the song stopped were unsuccessful.

After hearing about the incident the superintendent of the apartment, Danny Morales, ordered the teen removed from the premises.

Morales said, “I told him it’s disrespectful and they can’t be doing this. The police lost a family member. We all need to come together and respect that.”

PA State Trooper Killed in Vehicle Accident

A Pennsylvania State Trooper has died from injuries sustained in an on-duty vehicle accident early Friday morning.

The accident occurred on State Route 711 near State Route 271 at approximately 2:30 a.m.

Trooper Michael Stewart, 26, succumbed to his injuries after being involved in the accident. Another trooper was also present in the patrol vehicle. That trooper was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Actor Apologizes After Berating, Cursing at Police Officers

Troubled actor Shia LeBouf has issued an apology after video emerged of him berating officers with profanities after being arrested for public intoxication and obstruction.

LeBouf was arrested in Savannah, GA over the weekend.

LeBouf subsequently issued an apology, stating, "The severity of my behavior is not lost on me."

He added, "I am certain that my actions warrant a sincere apology to the arresting officers, and I am grateful for their restraint."

MA Police Officer Stabbed by Knife-Wielding 11-Year Old

A Lowell, MA police officer suffered two stab wounds on Sunday after when he confronted a knife-wielding 11-year old.

The officer had observed a neighborhood disturbance and gotten out of his patrol vehicle to intervene when an 11-year old armed with a knife emerged from a house.

The 11-year old charged another child with the knife raised above his head and the officer stepped in to stop the assault.

As a result, the officer suffered two stab wounds. He was treated at a local hospital and released.

The 11-year old was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Comedian George Lopez Tells President to "Deport the Police"

Comedian George Lopez caused a firestorm over the weekend when he tweeted that President Trump should "deport the police" in order to make the streets safer.

Lopez posted on to his Instagram page the following message: "The Trump administration is deporting Latinos to make the streets safer… You wanna make the streets safer deport the police."

He has since made his Instagram profile private.

New York State Trooper Shot, Killed While Responding to Domestic Violence Call

A New York State Trooper was shot and killed on Sunday night after responding to a domestic violence call in the town of Theresa, NY.

Trooper Joel Davis, 36, was shot as he approached the home.

Suspect Justin Walters, 32, was arrested at the scene. Walters' wife was also located inside the home, deceased.

Walters was said to be an active member of the U.S. Army.

Trooper Davis is survived by his wife and three children.

Union Blasts New York Mayor for Skipping Slain Officer's Vigil to Attend Protest

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio is facing intense criticism for skipping out on a slain NYPD officer's vigil to attend a G20 protest in Germany.

NYPD Sergeants Union President Ed Mullins stated, “New York City is right now mourning the loss of a police officer who was dedicated to the City of New York, and we have our mayor who has just gone to Germany to join protesters. Is this the type of city we want to live in?"

Mullins added, "Where we are failing is in political leadership."

Officer Miosotis Familia was shot and killed in an ambush attack early Wednesday morning. 

Mayor de Blasio left New York shortly after Officer Familia's shooting in order to participate in protests against the G20 meeting in Germany.
